Yardwork

The last few days we have been busy in the yard. We have had the goal of pruning all the fruit trees, lay out a garden, and begin some planting. Yesterday we finished the wood chipping in the orchard field, planted blueberries, gooseberries, and marionberries. We also staked out the area for our garden and my DH built six raised beds. This is starting to get exciting!! Here are some pictures of the things we've done!

Spring is in the Air

It seems like in the last couple of days different things have been happening that make me think spring is almost here. Our bulbs are sending out shoots and I discovered buds on two bulbs that we didn't plant. There are also bulbs coming up around the tree in our front yard and in another patch where there use to be a garden. I'm so excited to see everything in bloom. I know for sure that there will be daffodils, tulips, and irises but as for the other bulbs that will remain a surprise. Our pruned rose bushes are also starting to show signs of life with little buds showing forth.

The other signs of spring have been the sound of chirping birds and the robins that have been gracing our field with their presence. That has been a delight to watch as there weren't that many robins where I use to live. Also the frogs down in the creek behind the house have started to croak their chorus.

Down the road our neighbor has new baby lambs out in the pasture with their mommies and our calves are enjoying running and bucking in our field.

Hmm, yes, I think there are a few signs of spring in the air and I'm sure enjoying them!!

Busy...

Wow, it sure has been a busy last couple of weeks, hence no posting in awhile. Even though it has been busy, it have been a wonderful couple of weeks. We had several family birthday celebrations (mine included), a shopping trip, wrestling matches, a day at the coast, major pruning, wood chipping, firewood collecting, people over and the list could go on but I'll stop there. I just wanted to let you know I'm alive and I really hope to be better at posting more regularly!! :)

Out on the Town

The other day I had a wonderful girl's day out. My DH's cousin and I went out to explore the downtown and peek into antique shops, quilt shops, a local garden store, and we even stopped at a bakery to pick up some yummy bread. We had a great time!!! Here are some neat photos of the downtown!

A beautiful ending to a wonderful day!
