What a Beautiful Day!

What a lovely day to be outside.  The sun was shining so we took advantage and spent most of the day outside enjoying it!

Got to love the boots with her outfit!

We had lunch out on the deck

And what's a warm day without playing in the water

Isaiah's Birth Story

As some of you know when I went into the Dr on April 9th I had been dilated to 4cm. (Actually I had been 4 cm for the last two weeks but I really wasn't having any contractions.) My regular OB had been out of town the week before so I saw the other OB and she thought I would be delivering that weekend (that was the last weekend in March.)  Well the weekend passed and I found myself once again at the OB's office for my regular checkup with my normal OB.

When she checked me I was dilated to 6cm.  She looked at me and said, "I can't believe you are that dilated and walking around with no contractions!  Do you have your hospital bag with you because there is no way I'm going to let you walk around that dilated!?!  I want you to check into the hospital and I'm going to break your water and your going to have that baby today!"  I was in shock that I was that far dilated and in a way relieved that we were going to do something about it.  I was feeling ready though my only concern was I didn't want to have any medication to induce me.  I really wanted to let labor happen on its own.  My OB really felt that all she needed to do was break my water and thought I would go into labor from there!  So the plan was for me to check into the hospital, have my DH get off work and bring my hospital bags, and after my OB's last rotation she would break my water.

I got a hold of my DH and 1 1/2 hours later he met me at the hospital.   My Dr. came in around 5pm, checked me.  I was now almost dilated to 7cm with no real contractions.  She then broke my water and told me she'd see me a little later.  About 20 minutes after she broke my water I started having a few contractions, easy to breath through so I knew things were starting on there own! By 5:30pm contractions were coming more regularly and I was having to focus hard to breath through them.  (My DH was a wonderful coach who really helped me stay focused! )  By now I was having "wonderful" back labor so I opted to sit on the birthing ball instead of laying on my back.  Things from there seemed to go fast.  I was unaware of time as I was just trying to stay on top of my contraction pain.  At one point my DH told me he was going to let the nurse know I was having contractions.  I didn't know why since I figured we're be at this for awhile.  What he didn't tell me was my contractions were less then a minute apart and were lasting just as long.  All I heard was "you're doing a great job.  This contraction is almost over.  Breath, 1, 2, 3, inhale."  The nurse checked me and had me get back in bed while she told the other nurse to call the Dr.(The Dr. had gone home to have dinner thinking it would be awhile.)  After getting a few things ready in the room she checked me again and then turned to my DH and asked if he'd like to deliver.  Well the Dr. did arrive in time and after about 10 minutes of pushing (and lots of pain!!!) Isaiah arrived.  That was at 6:23pm!  An hour and 23 minutes after she broke my water Isaiah was born.  Oh was I glad  my water didn't break at home (or any other place) because I don't think I would have made it to the hospital in time!

I was in shock when Isaiah was weighed and he came in at 9lbs. 4oz, 21 1/2inches long!  Everyone was shocked.  The Dr. was thinking he'd be more like 7 1/2lbs especially since Liesel only weighed 6lbs. 5oz!  Isaiah was a big boy with a head circumference of 13 3/4inches and a chest of 14 1/4inches.  (I'll have you know that 1/2inch difference of his head and chest made a huge differences.  I remember while pushing the Dr. said his head is out and I was thinking then why is it still hurting.  Well, that's because he was stuck at his chest.  Once that part got pushed out he came right out!)

So my "little man" really wasn't so little after all!

4 days old!

Easter Pictures

This year Liesel was the only little kid at our Easter Celebration.  One set of cousins was getting over the chickenpox and the other set was visiting the other side of the family.  Even though Liesel was the only one we still did a little Easter egg hunt for her.  She sure had fun finding the eggs and when she discovered that there was "things" inside of them she liked it even more!

Here's an egg

I've got 2 eggs now!

Oh look it opens and they're goodies inside!

What a darling face!

The Right Perspective

This morning I woke up feeling more achy and honestly feeling more ready then ever to have this little guy.  As I was looking in the mirror putting my make-up on I said to myself..."Lord is today the day for this little guy to be born? But wait, I think I'm asking the wrong question!  What I should be saying is...This is the day that the Lord has made I will rejoice and be glad in it.  And that means even if we don't have little guy today.  My job is to rejoice no matter what!"

That sure is a much better perspective to have on the day! :)

Still Here!

Oh and did I mention and pregnant?! :)  Yep nothing has changed.  Early Sunday morning I started to have back pain and that lasted 1 1/2hr.  I really thought we were starting into labor so I tried to finish getting all my stuff together so when the pain really kicked in we'd be ready to head to the hospital.  Well, the pain all of a sudden just stopped and that was the end of that.  I was disappointed as I was mentally gearing up to go into labor and have this little guy.  Apparently he played the April Fool's joke on me.  It's been awhile since I've fallen for an April Fool's joke!

So until the real labor starts we continue on as normal!  Though I don't know what normal is exactly at the moment but we continue on!
