Cherries!

This year we actually got some cherries from our tree.  We picked these on Saturday and there's still more to pick!  It looks like I'll have enough to can a few quarts!

37 weeks 6 days

37 weeks and 6 days

Well at my last appointment (on Wednesday) I was 4 cm dilated and Doctor said if I come in next time at 5 cm there's a good likelihood she'll induce me.  She's concerned 1) I'll have a fast labor (Zayah came in under 1 1/2 hrs) and 2) It will be a big baby (Zayah was 9lbs 4oz).  Sooo we'll just wait and see what next week brings.  Until then we're just hanging relatively close to home and waiting.

Yesterday was a beautiful, sunny day and my husband claims I was nesting.  With the sun being out who could blame anyone for wanting to be outside.  So yesterday I swept and organized the deck, cleaned out the car, and mowed the lawn.  I will say I probably did to much as I was quite sore that evening but today I feel fine.  I guess that wasn't enough to send me into labor! :)

Spring Pictures

No baby yet!  We're still waiting.  It's probably a good thing because the kids and I have been fighting colds for the last week.  Hopefully we are on the recovery side of things but it seems to want to hang on. I figure this little gal will make her appearance when she's good and ready!  And so far she's not ready! :)

I thought I'd share with you a few fun spring photos that I've taken over the last two weeks.  It's been mostly rainy but we had about 2 1/2 days of beautiful weather that we had to get out in!

We had three new baby goats but two didn't make it.  Zayah wants to "hold them."

My DH also finished the kids bunk beds and they slept in them last night.  They love them!

Our Increasing Herd

At the beginning of March our herd of four goats (2 does, 1 buck, & 1 wether) increased by 5.

Hickory our Nigerian Dwarf goat gave birth to triplets boys out in our field.  Unfortunately about 2 weeks later one of them died, which was really sad because that was the one that Liesel picked to be her's.
Hickory had just given birth her 2nd kid

Here's two of the 3 boys only a couple days old

About a week later, Patches, our 1/2 Boar & 1/2 Nubian, gave birth to twins.  This is the 2nd time Patches has given birth since we got her 4 years ago.  She had twins the last time but one of them didn't make it.  This time both of them made it!
Patches brand-new kids. A boy and a girl

The white one is the boy and the brown is the girl
So I really have enjoyed having little goats (especially the Nigerian Dwarf) and so we decided we'd sell all of our 3 baby boys and get a few more does.  Well we found a really good deal and end up with 3 more does (plus one for our cousins.)

Our newest does...

Our 1 year old Nigerian Dwarf, Miss Betsy. She got her head stuck in a bucket.

The 3 new doeling kids-Foxglove, Jasmine, & our cousins little goat who we named Jemima.

We now have 6 does (Patches' girl we're going to sell but we still have her at the moment), 1 buck, & 1 wether.  Bring us to a total of 8 goats. So what's the plan with these goats? :) Well for one thing these goats are wonderful brush and weed eaters and have done a great job keeping the blackberry bushes down etc.  We also plan on breeding the does later on this year so we can have a few more kids next year.  We've had no problem selling the little dwarfs as people seem to want them for pets etc plus I love having them around. Who knows maybe one day we will milk them and make cheese and soap etc but for now we're just enjoying all our goats.

Yes this city raised girl has sure gone country and is loving it.!  Who would have thought! :)

Oh and did I mention one of our hens just hatched 14 chicks this week and another hen is setting right now, but I'll save that for another post! :)

( I have more pictures but haven't download them yet.  All these pictures were taken with my camera phone since my camera died the day before the goats were born.)

Enjoying the Sun

It was a beautiful sunny day so we went on a walk/picnic with N'ma and our cousins. What a fun time we had!

Too cute!

Even Callie was enjoying the sun

Oops we kindof got locked in.  The farmer didn't realize we were still there! :)  Fortunately our neighbor had a key to let us out!
Oh and this is the baby's version of T.P. stuck to ones shoe but with a baby wipe instead! Got to love it!

What a Beautiful Day!

What a lovely day to be outside.  The sun was shining so we took advantage and spent most of the day outside enjoying it!

Got to love the boots with her outfit!

We had lunch out on the deck

And what's a warm day without playing in the water
