Baby's First Picture

Today I went in for my doctor's visit and much to my surprise I received my first ultrasound. What an amazing sight to behold. Our little one was wiggling and turning all over the monitor. (I wonder if that is just a sampling of what is to come?!). The baby gave quite the show as it turned completely around several times and even appeared to wave. Our babe measured 3.5 cm and had a heart beat of 118 bpm. It was such a delight to watch and I only wish my hubby would have been there to see it but at least I have the pictures to show him! As I watched the baby moving I was again struck with awe at our marvelous Creator who is knitting this little one in my womb. It is amazing!!!

Yes, it's true

We are expecting!!!!! We can't tell you how excited we are about this new little life and all we have to anticipate in the near future. We are 9 weeks along and our due date is August 22nd.

As to how I'm feeling, green would be the word to describe me. I didn't have any morning sickness till week 6 and then it started. (I've really taken this "Go Green" theme serious. ;)

One wonderful blessing is we've been visiting my family so I haven't had to do any cooking and that has been very helpful. I think I'm being a little spoiled but I can't say I mind it during this season of the pregnancy!

Other than that all is going well. Both families are just thrilled with the news and all the aunties and uncles-to-bes can't wait for August to get here! Well neither can we!

He's Been Found

I can't tell you want a surprise it was to find our dear rooster today (and not in the stomach of the skunk like we thought.) This afternoon I was out in the barn searching for chicken eggs and I hear a cock-a-doodle-do coming from the stack of hay. It took a minute to dawn on me that, that was the rooster crowing. I quickly called for my husband and we started the hunt. At first we though he must have gotten stuck behind the barn and fence or between the wall of the barn. Couldn't find him. Then we figured that he was stuck in the hay fort that had been build but closed off to keep the chickens from laying eggs in there. We removed the bale of hay blocking the entrance but didn't see the rooster. We moved enough bales from the top of the fort to look down in but only discovered 7 eggs. My DH then crawled down in there and stuck in a back passageway was the rooster. Somehow he had managed to wedge himself in such a way that he couldn't even back up to get out. We spent the next bit of time unstacking and reorganizing the hay bales (because of course he was in the farthest, deepest corner of hay,) so my DH could get the rooster out. It took a little while to get the upset rooster out of the hay fort and back into the barn yard. When he got out he ruffled all his feathers and let out many unpleasant shrieks. I think he was wanting to make it clear that he was disgusted by the whole situation, and to be honest, I don't blame him!

Good to have you back Mr. Rooster!
