A Skiff of Snow

We got about 1and 1/2 inches of snow this morning and the kids wanted to go play in it.  They lasted about 10 minutes as they decided to take their gloves off and eat the snow and that resulted in really cold fingers (it is about 22 degrees outside)! (Zayah was borrowing his sister's pink and purple mittens for the "outing".)  For now they are enjoying watching the snow from inside of the house next to the warm fireplace! :)

She just looked too cute to not take this picture!
All these pictures were taken with my phone so they're not the best quality!  I'll post some more pictures later!

December in Review

Once again I've been a bad blogger.  December has come and gone and I've hardly posted!  Well December has been a very busy month like it has been for most of you so here are some pictures to review the month! (I apologize for there being so many pictures but just look as it as making up for all the pictures I would have posted if I had been keeping up with my blogging! :)

She got up there all by herself and was quite proud of the fact!

Notice her arms are crossed.  She's not mad but she recently started doing this.

Wearing Mommy's apron

My DH ground 75lbs of game meat and made it all into summer sausages! (This is only 1 of the 3 tubs full of meat!) It was quite the project but worth all the work.

Picking out our Christmas Tree

One of our hens hatched a chick but unfortunately it only lived about 1 1/2 weeks

Brr!  We had a couple cold days but at least they were dry!

The creek behind our house

Drinking milk out of a glass like a big girl

The goodies from a Christmas tea my Mother-in-law & I put on

The completed project

I set up my sewing station up stairs & love that I can leave it up all the time!

Christmas Day

My DH's Aunt made these yummy bear claws for Christmas day.
Liesel went to her 1st museum during our Christmas break.  She found the animals quite fascinating!

Let it Snow!

I received a call at 5:00am this morning letting me know school was canceled. JB was thrilled! I was too because I didn't have to drive on the snowy roads to take him to school!

This what it looked like last Thursday!

Halfway There!

Well, we are now 20 weeks along. It's hard to believe we are halfway there. I have finally graduated to my "fat" pants as I lovingly call them. I have to say that stretchy waistband feels a lot better than trying to squeeze myself in more "normal" pants. It's sure nice to breath and eat comfortably!

So what else is new for us. The little chicks have finally made their transition to the small coop in the backyard. They're still to little to join the big hens but big enough (and might I add stinky enough) to move to a bigger spot. We put them in there last night and today I saw them exploring all the nooks and crannies of their new home. They sure seem happy, as am I! The smell and dust was really starting to get to me. The timing was right!

Other than that we haven't been to exciting. Today is the first day in about two weeks that it's not pouring rain. A week ago Tuesday there was even snow in town. It sure has seemed like we've had a pretty mild winter but spring has come in with a bang and is making up the difference! I'm hoping that the sun will be hear to stay for awhile!

That seems to be it for now! Next time I'll try and post some pictures of our tulips. Right now they are in full bloom!

A Winter Waterfall

The other day my DH got off work early and took me up into the woods to show me a breath- taking sight. It was almost unreal to see the touch of frost and ice in such a small area. Pictures really don't do it justice. It was an amazing sight!

Time for Change

Well, I think its time to up date some of the blog pics and background. With the ground freezing outside and the weather prediction of possible snow I think its time for the fall leaves to go. The last three days it has frosted so hard that the ground looks like its been dusted with a small amount of snow. Yesterday my sis-in-law and I took advantage of the frosty morning to get a few pictures. I have to say its hard to capture the beautiful the frost. It's so magical and delicate. One has to almost be there to experience it but here's the best I can do with pictures.

This is before the sunlight shines on the grass.

And after...check out the frosted tips!

We sure had fun! Thanks again AJ!

Hallmark Smilebox

I'll admit it, I'm hooked on Smilebox!!! I have found that it is much easier and quicker to send several pictures at a time using Smilebox. Plus at this point it's as scrapbooky and I get with my photos. If you've never tried it I recommend you give it a go. There are many different formats and music that one can choose from. You can pay for the service if you want pictures sent without any ads but I find it works just as well with the free version. Here's one of the Smileboxes I put together using some of the snow pictures I took back in December. Enjoy!!!

Is that Snow?!?!

Yes, we had snow in our yard today. My DH told me that isn't very typical but then again the weather has been different all this past year. The spring was late in coming and there hasn't been as much rain as normal for the fall and winter. (Believe me I'm not complaining at all!) This weeks weather has been much colder than this sunshine girl has been use to. On Monday it never got above 30 degrees and Tuesday it didn't get above 20 degrees. As long as I layered up it was no big deal. I didn't let it stop me from talking Callie out on a walk!

Here are a few more pictures of the yard with snow!

This a picture of our backyard.

This is the path leading up to our front door.

I wish I could say I was home to witness the snow falling but I was up with my DH at his job site hanging out with him as he cleared the roads of snow. We had plenty of beautiful snow to see. We took Callie along with us and she really enjoyed playing in the snow!!

Here is a picture of our drive up to my DH's job. Breathtaking isn't it!

Honestly I can't say I mind the snow except if I have to drive on it. :)
