The To Do List

I really did have great ambitions when I made my To Do List yesterday. Plant new flowers, sweep/clean off porch and deck, prune roses etc. Yesterday was a beautiful springish day with the sun shining, blue sky and slightly warmer temps. I was all ready to accomplish my tasks and was completely bummed when I woke up to it raining outside. Somebody had told me it was suppose to be a nice dry week/end. Hmm that chance of rain thing must have gotten a little overlooked by the weatherman but then again how often are they 100% right!?! (Now it's not to say I can't plant flowers in the rain, I've done it before, but it's not quite as enjoyable.)

So my To Do List took on a new direction...make a fun breakfast for the guys, help JB with homework (we had/have quite a lot since he and my DH were gone 3 days rabbit hunting), take stuff down to the basement and reorganize the shelves, clean up the laundry room, pick up the house, fill up the soap container that I keep forgetting to do, etc. I will admit most of my day has been spent helping and explaining 6th grade math homework and I've tried to get the other stuff down in between. I've probably done more with percents, decimals, and fractions in the last 5 hours then I've done in a while! JB has done a great job of buckling down and getting his homework done. I tried to be good about scheduling breaks and at one point I told him to just go outside and clear his brain. We only have Reading and Science left so I hope to get most of that done tonight! Oh, and I should mention its probably a blessing in disguise that its raining today, otherwise I would have been a little ticked about staying inside to help with homework instead of planting flowers and it would have been much more of a struggle for JB to be inside on such a nice day. God sure knew what He doing when He gave us this weather!

Besides doing homework what else has been going on in our lives?! Well, we had a calf born to one of the big cows. (Actually we had a calf born to each mama but for some reason one didn't make it. She gave birth while we were out of town so the calf could have been stillborn for all we know.) The new little calf we call Midnight. He's a sweet little thing but his mama doesn't like us to get that close to him.

On the same lines as animals we sold good, old Jasper to a mule packing outfit. My DH has wanted to train Jasper ever since he got him over 2 years ago but hasn't found the time. And since he doesn't see the time in the near future we decide it would be best to find a good home for him. We advertised Jasper and by the next day he was sold. He has gone to a really good home where they train mules to pack for hunting trips. It's nice to know that he is in good hands even if we'll miss his handsome face around our place.

We've also been having a lot of little green sprouts shooting up from the ground. I'm thinking the mole might not have gotten all the bulbs I planted this fall! I can't wait to see the first bloom!

Aside from that we haven't been to exciting. I'm starting to think I'm close to being done with morning sickness. I have discovered if I don't get up super early I wake up feeling much better. It's still hard to believe at times that there's a little baby growing inside of me! We sure can't wait to meet our sweetie! :)

Hi L, So glad to see your post.Your cover picture of flowers to plant are the same that I planted about a week ago. They follow the walk from the opposite side from dining room window down to and around the bend. Fortunately I had them planted before our first rain.
We have had our second round of rain. In our area it was very gentle.

Take care, Love you much, Grandma G.
